Fingers Vs Thumbs
Fingers vs. Thumbs
With iPhone’s uniquely designed touch screen surface, classical cell phone users will
be in a dilemma at times – whether to use thumbs or to use the fingers. There
probably is no direct answer to this. The best answer would be both. Don’t say that
we are being too diplomatic. We have our reasons.
It seems easy to hold the iPhone in your non-dominant hand (that will be the left
hand for right-handed people) and type with the index finger of your dominant hand.
This way is useful for many. An advantage of using the iPhone like this will be that
you will do the pinching with an index finger and your thumb.
Another method could be to cup the iPhone in your hands and use both the thumbs
to type. This has some advantages of its own as it allows you to hold your precious
iPhone in a more secure way. If you are used to hitting keys on a normal cell phone
you would still be in the habit of doing this.
A rather strange, but efficient method of using the iPhone keypad is to set it
horizontally on a surface and type with fingers using both hands. This will of course
require you to carry a sturdy surface everywhere you go defeating the sole purpose
of a hand held device. Sometimes this technique will allow you to type faster but has
the obvious drawbacks.
It is up to you to try and find the most comfortable method among all these.
