iPhone car kits
The iPhone works beautifully with Bluetooth car kits, too. The pairing procedure
generally goes exactly as a normal pairing process with an iPhone and a Bluetooth
earpiece. You first make the car discoverable and then enter the passcode on the iPhone.
Once you do this a connection between your car system and your iPhone will be setup via
Bluetooth.

Once youre paired up, you can answer an incoming call by pressing a button on your
steering wheel. Of course your car should have the system to support this. You make
calls either from the iPhone or from the car itself. Most Bluetooth compatible car systems
have a keypad that allows you to key in the number you wish to dial.
When Bluetooth is turned on but the earpiece isnt, or when the earpiece isnt nearby, the
Bluetooth (looks something like a capital B) icon appears in gray. When its connected
and working right, the earpieces battery gauge appears on the iPhones status bar. Of
course, studies show that its the act of driving while conversing that causes accidents -
not actually holding the phone. So the hands-free system is less for safety than for
convenience and compliance with state laws. This, therefore, increases the safety of you
and your family when you are driving with an iPhone paired with your car.
