In this article we will know the iPhone from outside. This will give an idea of the hardware of this amazing gadget.

When you look from the top, you see a sleepwake button, the simcard tray and a headset jack. As the name suggests sleep/wake button is used to switch on or off the phone. Also it is used to lock and unlock the phone. The simcard tray is the tray where you insert or remove the sim card. Headset jack is used to plug-in the apple headset which comes along with the iPhone. It consists of ear buds to listen and a microphone to talk.

At the bottom, you have a speaker dock connecter and microphone. Speaker plays all types of sound files from videos, audios, or the phone ringtones. The dock connector is used recharge the iPhone and also serves the purpose of syncing with PC or Mac. The caller listens to your voice through the microphone.

On the front side of the phone, you have ring/silent switch, volume buttons, receiver, touch screen, home button and application buttons. Ring/silent button is used to switch between ring or silent modes. In ring mode user is alerted by sound whereas in silent mode user is alerted through display and there is absolutely no sound. Volume buttons are used to increase or decrease volume. The receiver is the speaker that makes you listen to the caller and is located such that it is closer to your ears. Touch screen is the nerve center of the iPhone. This is used for operation of the phone. Home button when pressed takes back to the main screen. Application buttons launch iPhone applications and there are sixteen of them.

On the back of the iPhone we have 2 megapixel high resolution camera to take photos. When you open the cover of the lens, you see the image your screen.
