Message attachments in iPhone
Did you know your iPhone has applications to view most attachment types? You can view .c, .cpp, .diff, .doc, .docx, .h, .hpp, .htm, .html, .m, .mm, .patch, .pdf, .txt, .xls, .and xlsx file extensions. That is a good list of all files that you can just read immediately. Its pretty cool that your iPhone can show you all these messages. But you should remember some of the attachments cannot be opened. For example if someone sends you a shockwave file, with a .swf extension, you cannot view that on your iPhone. In this case you will not be able to open the attachment. We hope that plug-ins to view other files types will be introduced, but till then you cannot view unsupported file types in your iPhone.
So there are so many types of attachments that you can view. How do you view them? Heres how:
1. Open the mail message containing the attachment.
2. Tap the attachment that is shown at the bottom of the message.
3. View the attachment.
4. Once youre done reading, tap the Message button in the upper-left corner of the screen to return to the message you started with.
Though iPhone supports all these file types, you should not get very used to viewing the attachments form your mails. You should also use a computer to check your mails sometimes!
